The IMF assessed the impact of coronavirus on the global economy

The consequences of the coronavirus pandemic will be “very serious”, but the world economy will be able to cope with them. This was stated by the director of the Department of Strategy, Policy and Analysis of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Martin Mühleisen. His words are given on the organization’s website.

According to Mühleisen, the crisis came at a time when the economy was ready for shocks and could cope with them. He explained that the continued expansion of the global economy and the high level of employment should create “some kind of buffer” against weakening economic activity due to the coronavirus pandemic.
